Centro Historico – The Historical district of old Mazatlan also makes up the downtown core. This area is comprised of century old historical buildings, and café line squares. This district is also home to banks, shops and markets. The location is ideal for those who enjoy walking.
Avenida del Mar – The 3 mile beach road area lies between old town centro historico and the Golden zone. It’s lined with condos, hotels and small shops. The main attraction of the area is the long sandy beach and popular ocean sea wall called the Malecon; which is used mainly by walkers, runners, rollerbladers for daily exercise. The location is ideal for those who want to be central to all of Mazatlan in a true Mexican ocean front community.
Golden Zone – Hotels, condos, restaurants and souvenir shops fill this busy tourist area. The beach is awash with vendors selling many things and motorized water sport rentals. This is an ideal area for those looking to experience everything touristy including bars, restaurants and little shops.
Marina Mazatlan – The fairly young marina area is a mixture of single home and condo complexes; while most units don’t have ocean views they do mostly face onto part of the marina waterways. It’s roughly a 15 minute walk to the beach depending on where exactly you are in the marina. Ideal area for those looking for a cheaper alternative to oceanfront.
North Mazatlan – The newest development area in Mazatlan comprises mainly large condo and hotel complexes in the northern Mazatlan beach area. There is some limited bus service and cabs can be called, but don’t expect to walk into town from here. The area is ideal for those who want a secluded quiet getaway.
